How To Authenticate Products

When in Doubt – Check It Out (WIDCIO)

About the Program

Over 14 years ago the ISC successfully launched the IWIDCIO (When in Doubt... Check it Out) Program .
This unique program allows dealers, distributors and customers an opportunity to submit questionable imaging supplies such as ribbons, inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges, toners, developers to the ISC for authentication.  Since the program launch several years ago hundreds of thousands of counterfeit imaging supplies valued in the million of dollars have been removed from commerce and over 10% of all products submitted to the ISC have proven to be counterfeit.

Program Process

The need for the WIDCIO Program arises when resellers and customers are victims of transitions that turn out to be "too good to be true".  They are offered products that are represented as inventory liquidations, manufacturers overruns or diverted products from other globasl locations. If you have suspicious imaging supplies products that you think are fake or counterfeit and you wish to use the WIDCIO Program please mail the product along with your contact information to:

Imaging Supplies Coalition
MBN 249

The product submitted will be assigned a control number and sent to the OEM with the control number and never any information about who is submitting the product for analysis. The results of the tests are reported back to the ISC who in turn contacts the submitter.
It the product is genuine the transaction with the ISC is concluded.
If the product is determined to be counterfeit,  the submitter under program rules, is required to divulge the purchase information of the submitted poroducts to the ISC. This information will be sent to the OEM for action.  As described above your identity as a participant in the program will remain confidential.

Note:  The product submitted cannot be returned.
